About Waypoint Property Advisors
More Than a Transaction, A Trusted Waypoint
Founded by Adam Rettig and John Waltmon, Waypoint Property Advisors was created after years of working in the Single-Family Rental industry and contributing to more than $1 billion in residential transaction volume. That experience gave them a deep understanding of real estate at scale while reinforcing the importance of thoughtful strategy, strong relationships, and disciplined execution.
Today, Waypoint brings that institutional-level experience directly to the Austin residential market, helping clients make confident decisions whether they are buying their first home, selling a property, investing in real estate, or simply exploring their options.
Guided by Purpose, Driven by Excellence
Our Mission
We believe clients deserve more than someone who simply facilitates a transaction. Our role is to provide clear guidance, informed advice, and dependable support from the first conversation through closing and beyond.
Our Vision
Our background in large-scale residential real estate has shaped the way we work. We apply that same level of professionalism, organization, strategic thinking, and execution to every client we serve.
Meet Adam Rettig
Co-Founder & Broker Associate | TREC License #675808
Adam began working in real estate while attending the University of Texas at Austin. After helping fellow undergraduates find rental housing, he discovered a passion for real estate and decided to pursue the industry after graduation.
He joined Amherst Residential out of college and spent eight years in the single-family rental industry, buying and selling homes on behalf of institutional investors as part of a team that transacted more than $1 billion in residential volume. That work taught him to evaluate a property quickly, read a market without guessing, and keep a transaction moving — the same discipline he brings to every Waypoint client, whether they are buying a first home, preparing to sell, or building a rental portfolio.
Beyond real estate, Adam’s interests include traveling, tennis, and golf, along with a passionate (if often disappointing) devotion to the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. He also loves exploring Austin — always on the hunt for a new favorite spot. He values time spent with friends and family, and loves hanging out with his wife Emily and their cat Blue.
Meet John Waltmon
Co-Founder & Designated Broker | TREC License #698249
John earned his real estate license in 2017 while studying at the University of Texas at Austin, helping students find housing across the city before finishing his degree in Economics in 2018.
He began his career at a commercial real estate firm focused on land acquisitions and redevelopment, then joined Amherst Residential in 2019, where he spent seven years acquiring and selling single-family homes at scale across multiple markets transacting more than $1 billion in residential sales volume. As Waypoint’s designated broker, he holds the firm to the standard of clear analysis, disciplined execution, and no surprises at closing.
Away from the office, John travels, plays golf, and rarely misses a Texas Longhorns game. He lives in Austin with his wife, Ashley, their son, Scottie, and their dog, Boone.
